Higurashi (no Naku Koro Ni) is pretty awesome.  Murder mystery + time loop + deranged lolis + madness.  It's finds the line between being cryptic and not making sense and it plays hopscotch with it.  Pretty wonderful.

Umineko (no Naku Koro Ni), the sequel, is currently airing.  It's ... well, I'm waiting to pass judgment on it until it's done, but it's gone way past that line and is in the land of the absurd, which is pissing me off.  But, like I said, withholding judgment.

Umineko means seagull, or literally translated, sea cat.  In any case, it's the sequel to Higurashi.

I just finished watching the first season and I finished watching episode 1 of Kai as well. That episode sure gives me the chills... it's such a sad story for the village.

I found it interesting that the creator of this anime is Ryukishi07, part of the development of Final Fantasy V. Such a great genius.

Oh and thank you for suggesting this anime. But I advise not to suggest it as a gore anime. When you said that I thought it was a gore fest. It's actually a murder mystery, very detailed and there's not much gore and it's not that terrifying. But the plot is amazing even though it's not easy to understand.

Hmm, I seem to remember saying something like...

Murder mystery + time loop + deranged lolis + madness.

Yep.  I said that.  :D

Well... Hehe... Anyway, the chapters are really confuse, and there's special explanations of the chapters because they will repear, but now in Kai, it will be the "conclusions", anyway, I haven't seen all series, so I can't tell you much more about it...

Oh, I see.  I assumed you had seen all the Higurashi series.  Basically, each series is split up into chapters, or arcs.  Essentially, there are question arcs and answer arcs.  The first series is almost all question arcs if I remember correctly, while Kai has a mix of question and answer.  Rei was pretty much just a standalone answer arc bridging the gap between Higurashi and Umineko.  So far Umineko is all question arcs.  It's going to be interesting when they finally start answering things.  XD

I guess Umineko has no Mion or Shion (fantastic anime bewbs)... that will be so missed.

EDIT: Actually they do. Almost ever female in Umineko has huge bewbs. Odd.
