The Digiport Closing

Well, The Digiport has officially closed down.  The Digital Dive forums will be still active and the Shining Evolution will be taking the place of TDP.

Oh, he can't cover hosting payments? I don't think it's too hard to find someone hosting him for free. And you can gradually update your site, when you find time. Nobody pushes you.

I used to do this with my previous site too, but I now regret it. There is never a strong reason to close a site.

He's been "gradually updating" for the past 2 years.

"There is never a strong reason to close a site."

You're still young with plenty of time on your hands. Look at Aki. He's in college and barely has any time for OD at all and it'd probably be dead you hadn't picked it up.

Sure, you could always ask for donations or try to find free hosting, but what's the point if your heart's not in it anymore?
I'll make a new tag for myself when I'm free from making them for others.
Why would I eat from a lunchbox I no longer have any steak in?

Actually I don't have that much time. I have finals this year. But you didn't get my point. The DigiPort could be handed to someone else he trusts. There is no need to remove it. I'm pretty sure there is someone who would cover domain costs there.

Like I said, I had the same experience... I closed my site back then for the same reason, I had no time. But I regret, because I had many dedicated friends who would have continued it in my absence.

Oh, sure. He could have handed it over, but it's not the same as actually running it. Leave it in the hands of someone else... and they could change everything... and who knows. Maybe the current members wouldn't trust them? All kinds of variables. I'm sure he has his reasons. He felt closing TDP was for the best, so that was his decision.

Well, even though the Digimon fan base lost a dedicated always updated Digimon site, Online Digimon now has less competition for trying to be the best Digimon website.
