My Wacom doesnt work on my Mac!!
« on: February 03, 2010, 08:59:53 PM »
so my laptop ran out of battery today due to a shitty charge plug, and i decided to resort to my macbook pro instead but then i realize as i plug my wacom tablet into it... theyre not compatible with each others, at all (it just acts like a regular mouse)

there are drivers available yes, but for windows only and the one i got (volito2) isnt even mac os x certified

ive tried installing intuos/graphire drivers for os x instead but still no luck

so does anyone happen to know a trick or two on how to work around this issue and still make it work somehow?

... forest, im eyein at ya, heres your chance to make steve jobs proud B]

well its a wacom volito2 graphic tablet and its a tad old... the requirements on the carton state that i need a pc with xp and up

i just simply plug it into the usb port and it acts just like a mouse which means i have to drag the pen around on the tablet to make the cursor move, when its actually supposed to pop up anywhere on the screen wherever i point the pen at on the tablet

and no the tablet is not present in system preferences nor do i have config files lying around cause i have no drivers installed which is why it does not function properly in the first place... i need drivers man, for mac which do not exist unless i use an existing alternative that could trick the mac to accept my tablet

OH I see, dang. I'm not sure about the older models. I have only ever had a chance of using a lot of the newer ones.

DRivers will be tricky,,,give it a google and see if anyone has hacked it ?

yeah ive tried searching on google, and i got suggestions about using graphire/intuos drivers in the place of volito2 instead to trick os x to accept my tablet (though with limited features and settings)

it didnt work, for me

but i guess its not really THAT urgent anyway, i was just thinking of in case of emergency if i had to use mac instead of my acer which is now full of life again... though it wouldve been great if i could achieve the same functionality on the mac as well!

Companies seriously suck when it comes to giving mac functionality on older products.
